Live animals are sold in store only — we do not ship fish, coral, or invertebrates. Every animal is acclimated and health-checked in-house before it reaches the sales floor. This is a species we carry — it's most likely in the tanks around delivery days, but live stock changes daily. Please call (814) 456-9445 to confirm availability before you drive in.

Good tank mates
Peaceful and community-safe; it's a black skirt tetra under the fluorescent color, so it suits a calm community of similarly sized fish. Good company includes other tetras, rasboras, corydoras, peaceful gouramis, and livebearers like platies. Avoid aggressive fish and large fish that could eat it, and note that black skirt types can be slightly nippy in too small a group, so keep a school of six or more with no long-finned, slow tankmates like male bettas.
Good to know
GloFish Tetras are black skirt tetras (Gymnocorymbus ternetzi) bred to express fluorescent color from genes originally added to help scientists detect water pollution.

Bronze Cory
Peaceful armored bottom-dwellers that occupy a completely different tank level, share the same soft tropical water parameters, and present no target for fin-nipping. A well-documented classic pairing with black skirt tetras across all major care sources.

Harlequin Rasbora
Peaceful mid-water schooling fish with short fins and soft-water preferences that align closely with GloFish Tetras (pH 6.0–7.0, slightly acidic). Similar size and temperament with no aggression or fin-nipping risk in either direction.

Zebra Danio
Active, short-finned schooling fish whose temperature range overlaps comfortably with GloFish Tetras at 74–76°F. Fast enough to avoid any fin-nipping and match the tetra's energy level without provoking aggression.

Rummy-Nose Tetra
Short-finned, peaceful schooler that shares nearly identical water parameter preferences (pH 6.0–7.0, soft GH 0–8°N, 72–79°F) with GloFish Tetras. When the tank is properly dialed in for GloFish Tetras, rummy nose tetras are well within their comfort range.
