Who we are

Exactly what we keep about you
This is everything the website can keep, depending on what you do. We don't know who you are unless you tell us in a message.
If you just look around
- What's kept
- Which pages you view, how long you stay, your type of device and browser, the site that sent you here, and a rough location worked out from your IP address. Words you type into the shop search become part of the page address, so they're kept like any page. Microsoft Clarity also keeps where you tap and scroll, and a replay of each page with anything you type hidden. Our web host keeps a log of each page request: the page, the time, your IP address and your type of browser.

- Google Analytics, under a random ID. No name or email is attached. Microsoft Clarity, under a new random ID for each page. Vercel, our web host.
- How long
- Google keeps the visit-by-visit detail for 2 months, and the random ID's history for 14 months after your last visit. Clarity keeps replays for 30 days. Vercel keeps its request logs for one day.
If you send us a message
- What's kept
- Your name, email, phone number if you add it, your message, and when you sent it. For 15 minutes we also keep your IP address, so nobody can flood the form with spam.
- Where
- Our message inbox on this website, stored with Upstash. After you send it, your email app opens with a copy addressed to seacave1@verizon.net. If you send that too, it sits in our email inbox.
- How long
- Until we delete it. We delete it whenever you ask.
If Google's map loads
- What's kept
- The map on our contact page comes from Google. Loading it sends Google your IP address, and Google may set its own cookies. If your browser asks sites not to track you, the map waits until you tap Show map.

Cookies, and why there's no banner
Google Analytics sets two cookies, _ga and _ga_QM4HVHRQ3C, so it can tell a repeat visit from a new one. Microsoft Clarity sets none. Those are the only cookies this site sets for visitors. Our staff sign-in uses its own, only on staff devices.
Your browser may also keep small notes for the site, like a banner you closed. They hold nothing about you and never leave your device.
You won't see a cookie banner, and that is deliberate. A banner interrupts you to ask about something that has usually already happened, and most of them change nothing once you click through. So instead the site reads the privacy signal your browser already sends, either Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track. If yours sends one, Google Analytics and Clarity never load, no cookie is set, and the map waits for your tap. Our web host still logs the page request, as every web server does. Brave and the DuckDuckGo browser send that signal on their own, and Firefox sends it once you switch it on in its privacy settings.
If your browser doesn't send one, you can block or delete cookies in its settings, or install Google's Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on from tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. The site works the same either way.
Do Not Track
Some browsers send a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal. We honor both. When the site sees one, neither Google Analytics nor Microsoft Clarity loads for that visit, and Google's map waits until you tap it.
How we use it
We use your information only to answer your questions, hold items for in-store pickup, and improve the site. We never sell or rent it to anyone.
We do not take payments on this website. Purchases happen in the store, so we never collect or store card or bank information online.
Who else handles it
Vercel hosts the site, Upstash stores our message inbox, Google provides Google Analytics and the map, and Microsoft provides Clarity. They handle your information to run those services for us.
Google and Microsoft also use what their tools collect under their own policies. Google explains it in How Google uses information from sites that use its services, and Microsoft in the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
Getting your information, or deleting it
Call (814) 456-9445, email seacave1@verizon.net, or send us a message, and tell us the name, email or phone number you used. We'll tell you everything we have under it. If you ask, we'll delete it and let you know when it's done.
Google Analytics and Clarity don't know who you are, so we can't pick your visits out. Visit data deletes itself on the schedule above.
Changes to this page
When we change what this website keeps, we update this page and the date at the top.
