Good tank mates
As a plant, the Amazon sword is compatible with nearly all peaceful community fish and provides shelter and cover; it pairs especially well with tetras, livebearers, and gouramis. Avoid keeping it with persistent plant-shredders such as some large cichlids, goldfish, and silver dollars that will tear the leaves. Bottom-dwellers and shrimp will graze the biofilm and algae on its broad leaves without harming the plant.
Good to know
The Amazon sword is a true rosette plant that sends up runners and can grow surprisingly large, with mature specimens filling the back of a tank into a tall green bush.
