A peaceful, beginner-friendly centerpiece fish; give it gentle flow, some surface cover, and a 30-gallon-plus tank with room to cruise.

Live animals are sold in store only — we do not ship fish, coral, or invertebrates. Every animal is acclimated and health-checked in-house before it reaches the sales floor. This is a species we carry — it's most likely in the tanks around delivery days, but live stock changes daily. Please call (814) 456-9445 to confirm availability before you drive in.

Good tank mates
The pearl gourami is a calm, peaceful community fish that settles in well with similarly easygoing tankmates of about its own size. Keep it away from fin-nippers and from pushy or much larger fish that would stress or outcompete it.

Neon Tetra
Peaceful schoolers that occupy the mid-to-lower column and pose no fin-nipping risk. Parameters overlap at 77°F — the lower edge of the Pearl Gourami's range and the upper edge of the Neon's safe zone. Keep the tank at 76-77°F; above 78°F Neons experience chronic stress, so this pairing requires deliberate temperature discipline rather than a casual set-it-and-forget-it approach.

Bronze Cory
Peaceful bottom-dwellers that occupy a completely different water column than Pearl Gouramis, so there is no competition for territory or resources.

Cherry Barb
One of the few barb species considered fully peaceful and not prone to fin-nipping, making them safe companions for the Gourami's delicate trailing fins.

Harlequin Rasbora
Peaceful mid-water schoolers from the same Southeast Asian soft-water habitats, similar in size and temperament with no aggression toward Gouramis.
- K
Kuhli Loach
Reclusive, peaceful bottom-dwellers that ignore mid-to-surface fish entirely and thrive in the same warm, slightly acidic water parameters.
