Mollies are hardy, adaptable livebearers that work in both freshwater and brackish tanks — easygoing community fish that top out around 4.5 inches and do well in a 20-gallon-plus setup. We rotate Black, Dalmatian Lyretail, Silver Lyretail, and Balloon morphs; the pictured fish is one colorway, and the mix changes by batch.

Assorted Guppy
Fellow livebearer in the same genus with virtually identical water requirements — hard, alkaline water at pH 7.5–8.5 and the same temperature range. Both species are small and peaceful, making this one of the most widely recommended and well-documented molly companions.
Assorted Platy
Peaceful livebearer that thrives in the same hard, alkaline freshwater conditions mollies require. Similar size and temperament eliminate competition or harassment, and the water parameter overlap is complete — no compromise needed for either species.
Bronze Cory
Bottom-dwelling peaceful scavengers that occupy a different tank level than mollies, eliminating direct competition. Captive-bred corydoras tolerate pH 7.5–8.0 and 74–80°F — a real overlap with molly parameters — and Aquarium Co-op specifically lists them as compatible molly tankmates.

Swordtail
Livebearer sharing the same genus as the platy with identical water parameter needs and a similarly peaceful disposition toward other community fish. The comparable size prevents any predator-prey dynamic, and male–male swordtail aggression stays within the species rather than directed at mollies.
