Freshwater Fish
Assorted Gourami.
A mixed pick of gouramis — labyrinth fish that gulp air at the surface and bring slow, peaceful movement to a community tank. Generally beginner-friendly and happy in calm water with some surface cover. Ask us which types are in this week.
In-store purchase only. Live fish, coral, and invertebrates are sold at our Erie store only. They cannot be bought online, and we do not ship live animals under any circumstances.
Live fish are priced per supplier batch — prices may vary. Call to confirm current pricing.

Live animals are sold in store only — we do not ship fish, coral, or invertebrates. Every animal is acclimated and health-checked in-house before it reaches the sales floor. This is a species we carry — it's most likely in the tanks around delivery days, but live stock changes daily. Please call (814) 456-9445 to confirm availability before you drive in.

Good tank mates
These come in as a mixed pick, so temperament varies by type and we can't promise a single profile here. Compatibility depends on which gouramis are in this week and the individual fish, so ask us in-store and we'll match them to your setup. As a general rule, most community gouramis do fine with calm, similarly-sized tankmates and dislike boisterous fin-nippers or anything large enough to bully them.
Good to know
Gouramis are labyrinth fish, meaning they have a special breathing organ that lets them gulp air at the water's surface to supplement the oxygen they take from the water.
Stock and individual temperament vary — call (814) 456-9445 for pairing advice before you buy.

Bronze Cory
Peaceful armored bottom-dwellers that occupy the substrate layer entirely below gourami territory. Water parameter overlap (pH 6.0–7.5, 72–82°F) is solid, and no aggression or fin-nipping risk in either direction.

Harlequin Rasbora
Peaceful mid-column schoolers with well-documented successful pairings with honey and dwarf gouramis in planted communities. Matching soft, slightly acidic tropical parameters and zero nipping tendency.

Cherry Barb
Confirmed non-fin-nipper explicitly cleared as safe alongside fin-sensitive fish including pearl, honey, and dwarf gouramis. Unlike tiger or black-skirt barbs, shows no meaningful nipping tendency. Keep groups of 6+ with a female majority to keep intraspecies focus internal.
- K
Kuhli Loach
Secretive, non-territorial bottom-dweller confirmed compatible with dwarf and honey gouramis. Shares pH 6.5–7.0 and 73–82°F overlap; stays buried in substrate and never enters gourami mid/top territory.
- O
Otocinclus Catfish
Micro algae-eaters that cling to glass and hardscape — a completely separate niche from gouramis. Peaceful, non-competitive, and confirmed compatible water parameters (pH 5.5–7.0, 72–82°F). Requires a mature, biologically established tank.
