The classic bronze cory — a peaceful, armored catfish that bustles along the bottom in a busy group. Beginner-easy and community-safe; keep three or more over soft substrate in a 20-gallon-plus tank and they'll tidy up leftovers all day.

Good tank mates

The bronze cory is peaceful and community-safe, an ideal bottom-dweller for a calm community tank. Good tankmates include small tetras, rasboras, peaceful gouramis, and livebearers like platies and guppies up in the water column. Avoid large or aggressive fish that may harass it, fin-nippers, and anything big enough to swallow it. Keep three or more together, since these are social fish that forage in a group.

Good to know

Corydoras catfish can breathe air by gulping at the surface and absorbing oxygen through their intestine, an adaptation that helps them survive in low-oxygen water.

What is in the tanks and each animal's temperament vary — call (814) 456-9445 for pairing advice.
