Good tank mates
This colorful male anthias does best as the single dominant male over a harem of females, since two males will fight; keep just one male per tank unless it is large enough for separate groups. It mixes well in a peaceful-to-active reef community with clownfish, tangs, wrasses, and gobies, and it is reef-safe with corals and inverts. Avoid pairing it with overly aggressive fish or fast eaters that will outcompete this plankton-grazer at feeding time.
Good to know
Lyretail anthias are born female and the most dominant fish in a group can change sex to become the brightly colored male.
